Historical background

You mentioned a Foundation newsletter and I have a couple of images that might be of interest. The first two provide an impression of the size of the Battle of the Atlantic Memorial that was in the Currie gymnasium from 1950 until 1991. It was about half of the total collection acquired by McGill through Dolly McEuen’s efforts. Almost all of the badges in the photos are now in the McGill University Archives but sadly almost all of the badges that were not mounted are now lost. There are five additional “Ajax Club” badges in the Canadian War Museum collection and one in the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax. The last one mentioned was a transfer from the CWM collection in 1998.

The CWM also retrieved a caricature of Stuart McEuen in his RCN days at HMS Cornwallis which I have attached as well as an image showing the McGill Remembers file on Dr. McEuen compiled during WW2.

Cheers,

Wes
